Jabal Akhdar, Oman
Alilia Resort Mountain Hideaway
Perched 2,000 metres above sea level in the Al Hajar Mountains, Alila Jabal Akhdar is a haven for adventure travellers, nature lovers and those seeking a retreat from the desert heat.
Rarely do I blog about a place that I have stayed as I primarily focus on the beauty of the nature and Unesco destinations. The Alila Resort Jabal Akhdar is literally as close to nature as you can get.
For those who are not familiar with Alila resorts, they are a boutique luxury brand with a combination of innovative design and crafted luxury in unique locations. Alila means “Surprise” in Sanskrit language. They have around two dozen locations primarily in Asia.
An ideal place to get away for a long weekend to relax and get immersed in the nature around you. The interior of the rooms are rich but not overstated with luxuries having everything one needs for a realxing stay.
Inspired by ancient forts, traditional Omani construction techniques using local stones are combined with contemporary architecture to create a uniquely relaxing environment, from the pool to the spacious suites that look out to mesmerising views of the cliff and mountains.
The grounds of the resort blend with nature and give you a feeling that this resort almost grew from a seed rather than being built.
Jabal Akhdar has incredible history, culture and nature. This rugged, mountainous region is one of Oman’s most compelling destinations thanks to stunning landscapes that include Jebel Shams, Oman’s highest mountain, and Jebel Akhdar, considered the fruit bowl of Oman.
A nice relaxing weekend in a place that sings with nature what else could one want?
